Long Weekend Fun

Good Tuesday morning!  I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend.  It was nice to have an extra day to our weekend, but it sure was hard to get up and going for school and work this morning.  I sure do hate that 5:45 a.m. alarm.

Here are some highlights from our weekend:

Clemson won!  Go Tigers!!

Isn't family time the best?

Before you go, you have to click over here to Style Me Pretty to see pictures of my adorable cousin, Edward, and his equally adorable fiancee, Caroline.  These were taken this past summer on our farm and dock.  They make me want to go have a tomato fight...go see!

We're All Hitched!

This past weekend I went to Charlotte for the wedding of my last close girlfriend at Clemson.  I always love getting together with these girls, and we try to do it as often as possible, though that is hard to do now that we all have jobs, husbands, and kids.

Friday night most of us met up and ate dinner at this tapas place where we could order the entire menu for something like $230, so we took that challenge.  And then we proceeded to feel like gluttons because the waitstaff brought us plate after plate after plate of food.  It was like speed eating.  We were stuffed before they even brought everything out, but everything was really good -- or at least everything that I tasted.

They had a photo booth at the reception, and I love a photo booth.  They just allow for all sorts of craziness.  You're just never so cool as you are in a photo booth with a sombrero and a fake mustache.

I did manage to trip and fall in the middle of the reception again.  This time it wasn't down stairs, thankfully, but it was in front of many more people.  So embarrassing.  And I managed to scrape up my knees and elbows, but I didn't hurt myself as badly was when I fell down the stairs at my last sorority sister's wedding.  I'm like a total wedding klutz...

Now we just need to find our next excuse to get together!

Praise the Lord, It's Friday!

Who is ready for the weekend?!  I sure am!  They always seem to get here at just the right time...

:: Wednesday was supposed to be one of those really productive days where I stayed home and got tons of laundry, Bible study homework, grocery shopping, cleaning, and packing for this weekend done.  Of course, things never go as planned.

Gibson woke up Wednesday morning with a nasty sounding cough and the hint of a fever, so he stayed home from school.  Then our washing machine started to smell funny, and after I let it rest for over an hour, it started leaking water and suds all over the porch.  So Brad had to come home and take the entire thing apart to find that there was a hole in the tub -- and this is the second washer/dryer that we have had mess up in the year that we have lived in this house.

Needless to say my day wasn't as productive as I had hoped.

:: Gibson was finally feeling better today, so we went on his first field trip ever this morning.  We went to the pumpkin patch, and it was absolutely freezing!  I was not prepared for it to be cool this morning, and Gibson and I were both wearing short sleeves.  I was ready to go as soon as we got there, and Gibson played in this duck race water thing the entire time -- so now he'll probably have pneumonia.

:: We are on the way to Atlanta right now, so I am blogging as we drive down the road -- a first for me!  Brad has a produce convention this weekend, so the kids and I are tagging along to do some fun Atlanta stuff -- the aquarium, the zoo, etc.  I also hope to get in at least a little bit of shopping if I can okay it with (or sneak it by) Mr. Spreadsheet.

:: Clemson plays Maryland this weekend at Maryland.  This can be a tricky game for the Tigers, so we have our fingers crossed that we can stay undefeated.  I am so excited how well we have done this season, and I can't believe that we have only been to one game so far.  GO TIGERS!!!

Have a great weekend!

The Boy Goes to Clemson & Menu Monday

Last weekend Brad and I took Gibson to Clemson for the Auburn game.  Gib doesn't get much boy time, so we decided that the football game would be the perfect opportunity.

And it was!

It ended up being a really fun game because we got some nice, cool fall temperatures in the morning -- and WE WON!!  Go Tigers!

**To those who I didn't get to see while tailgating -- noon games don't allow for much visiting!  By the time we got parked, we had to head down to watch Tiger Walk.  Gibson didn't get to "slap five" with the Tiger, so we then had to head back up to the breezeway to make sure that he got to do that when the band and cheerleaders went by.  Brad had decided that we were coming home after the game, so, sadly, we didn't stick around to long.  Hopefully our next trip back to Clemson will be a longer one.

Menu Monday:

I cooked a couple of things last week...

Chicken Parmesan (my version)

Bowtie Pasta Lasagna: I then put this in a baking dish and sprinkle parmesan cheese and seasoned panko crumbs on top and bake at 350 until bubbly.

Nothing was new except for the cupcakes, and those were really good.  They were a recipe from skinnytaste.com, so they aren't that bad calories- or fat-wise, and they are delicious.  I left a couple of the cupcakes un-iced and have eaten them for breakfast, and they are really good like that, too.  Hmmm...and my house smelled like fall while I was baking!

Praise the Lord, It's Friday! (And I'm Excited!)

Yet again, I am so happy that it is Friday.  Here's why...

:: The kids have an extra long weekend!  Not only is it a Labor Day holiday on Monday, but they get out at 11:45 today, so it's a 12:15 pickup at the bus stop.

:: Sanders gets a big girl day tomorrow because (I am almost scared to actually say this out loud), we seem to have finally, finally remedied this problem:

This has been a really long time coming.  A really, really, really long time.  I thought we might not live through it, in fact.  Or maybe she'd still be sucking that thumb in college or on her wedding day.  As her reward, we are going to get manis and pedis, get her ears pierced (yes, yes we are), and go to lunch -- all big girls.

:: Of course, we will be back in time for the next big thing I'm really excited about:

The super exciting kick-off of Clemson football!  We have to rig the computer up to the tv to be able to watch, but we will get it figured out...  GO TIGERS!!!!!!

:: Finally, my house is looking sooooooo great.  I have some pictures to show you in a post all its own soon, but here is a sneak peak:

Happy Weekend!!!
